Major Project Research Presentation

I have now had my presentation for the first part of the major project. I have researched disasters graphically with words and images, and here is some of the work I made.

The posters over is between A2 and A1 in size. They are all handdone and represents a disaster or effects of disaster.

Below are boxes of fragments and posters that were made from research I did around the Titanic disaster. Each of the three represents a person who was lost, and the fragments symbolize their belongings. I got the information of the belongings by looking through the descriptions of unidentified bodies found after the Titanic sunk.

Sneak peak sailboats

Yesterday I finished my handmade boats, and luckily they were able to float. I ended up making them of some sort of material, instead of paper (which I tried but did not succeed..)
I went down to my grandma's cabin by the water at took some photos. Here are some sneak peaks of them (and yes it was very cold)

The boats represents disaster, and the text on them are from poems and songs written after a certain disaster.

I read an article in Grafik yesterday where they interviewed some typographers that had som nice quotes. So I made two posters of the quotes when procrastinating!

4th year work - status update

Currently I'm working on three things.

1. Postage stamps for minor projects brief. I'm making small lenticular stamps that are papercut - they are all showing a short storyon how we can be more "nice to the nature"
here is a sketch example of a last frame (still working on typo):

2. Working on my major project. Im trying to emboss A2 posters. So what I first had to do is trying to emboss by hand, so I made a small card just to try it:

Here is the template I cut out in card by hand to actually do the embossing!

And here is a hint on what I am actually making, and obviously which theme....

3. Im trying to sort out my 8000 word dissertation.
Im doing mine on photo journalism regarding some major disasters/catastrophes happened in the world, and how the media "changes" us with the photos they are running.
Interesting much?
I think! Wich me good luck, and it would be REALLY helpful if you could write down something for me in the comment section:
- Is it a picture from a disaster (example 9/11, 22/7, the tsunami in Japan, tsunami in 2004 ect) that you especially remember?
- Why do you remember it?

Thanks so much!
